Fog Rolls In

  • This photo is another one I took in Georgetown, Colorado last spring when we went skiing.  We had gotten back from a good day of skiing and my dad and I went and walked around the lake area outside of our condo.  It was already a cloudy day, and as a little rain began to fall we started to head back to the condo.  When we noticed some fog rolling in through the mountains, I quickly set up for a few more shots, and this was one of them.

It's hard to see in this photograph, but there is a guy upstream doing a little fishing.  I didn't see any fish in the stream, but maybe that was because he caught them all before they made it to where I was standing.  I would also note the lack of snow in these pictures.  There was no snow in Georgetown this spring, but there was snow at Loveland, where we skied.  A few areas up high on the mountain coming down from the top were bare, but other than that, the snow was pretty much perfect last spring.  It was also pretty warm, which would probably explain the lack of snow in Georgetown.

  • A little over a year ago I took a trip to Florida with my brother and cousin.  We went to a place called Longboat Key, near Sarasota.  My brother and I went there a few times when we were younger with my dad and grandparents, and it was the same place my grandparents took my dad and aunts when they were kids!  My mom even stayed at the same place a few weeks before we went down there.  It's a great place; not crowded, and not overly developed.

This photo shows the typical day while we were there; sunny and hot.  Luckily, the water was great; clear and nearly the perfect temperature.  One really cool thing about this beach is that there is a sand bar about 20 feet into the ocean.  You walk into the water and after a short descent on rough ground, it gets shallow and sandy.  It's really cool being able to walk into the ocean and be a long way from the shore but still standing.

  • This is another one from my day at the downtown Kansas City airport air show.  I took this near the end of the day as I was walking home across the bridge from the other side of the Missouri River.  This photo turned out pretty close to what I had envisioned when I took the picture. The only thing I would really like different would be a wider view.  I took this at 18mm, the widest my widest lens will go; I’d like to see this at 10mm and see how it looks.  A super wide angle lens is at the top of my wish list, but lenses aren’t cheap; especially super wide lenses.  In my mind though, I already have so many pictures I want to take with a super wide lens.

  • This was the view we had from our condo in Georgetown, Colorado last spring when I went skiing with my Dad and Brother.  The lake and mountains were very pretty, and I got a number of pictures I liked in the area.  We have stayed in Georgetown for many years, but we’ve never stayed in these condos or even near the lake before this year.

Although I did get some nice photos from Georgetown, I didn’t get any pictures while skiing.  For one, I’m a little nervous about taking my DSLR up the mountain while I’m skiing, as there is a greater possibility of falling while on skis with a camera than there is while just walking around with a camera.  I also tend to focus more on skiing, and less on taking pictures when I'm on the mountain.  One of these days though, I’ll work up the nerve and spend an afternoon on the mountain with my camera, taking it easy and taking photos.

  • Sorry for the delay in updating the website; I've had other things going on lately so I've been busy and haven't made much time to get any photos ready to post.  Worry not though, I've got more for you, so keep checking back!

I took this photograph last summer during the air show at the downtown Kansas City airport.  This is a bridge that lets US Highway 169 cross the Missouri River just north of downtown.  Normally it wouldn’t be safe and probably wouldn’t be legal for pedestrians to be on this bridge, but the entire highway was closed to let buses drive on half, and to let spectators walk on the other.

I enjoy the architectural design of this bridge in this picture, as well as the angles created by composing the picture like I did.

  • Here's an old one, but a good one. I took this in 2004 while in college with my trusty old Canon Powershot A70. A number of my friends really like this photo and one even demanded that I give it to him so he could make a print. He has had it on display ever since. Every time I see it, it makes me feel pretty good! I even finally got around to getting a print for myself earlier this year.

I just realized that my posts were being formatted with only one space after periods and other sentence ending punctuation. I apologize for this, and hope you all haven't been judging me for the single space after the end of my sentences. Now that I have found the error all subsequent posts should be correct. Two spaces is how I roll. One space just isn't right.
