Welcome to the view from the World’s Smelliest Rest Stop! Located somewhere outside of Denali National Park, this rest stop was seriously foul. It had a pretty view of Mt. McKinley, and of this river, but man, the odorous nature of the environment permitted us to stay only long enough to take the quick hike up to the lookout point and then back to the car. I don’t know what it was, but the consensus for the whole trip was that Alaska was, in general, “kinda smelly.” It didn’t detract at all from the trip, but did lend itself to our amusement.
Yikes! It’s been a while since I’ve posted on here. For that, I am regretful. And to make up for it, here’s some new content. And by new content I mean four pictures that are very similar to other pictures that I’ve already shared. BUT, they’re slightly different, AND those river pictures at the bottom are brand new. Not a similar one anywhere within my photostream! Uh, except for the ones right here. So good for me, and good for you!
I really need to post all of my Alaska shots soon. It’s going to be a year since the trip in just a few months. I should have had these all posted ages ago.
I like how similar yet different these last two are.
I didn’t have a zoom lens in Alaska. Sometimes I wished I’d brought one, but more often than not I didn’t want or need it. Here are a few times where a zoom would have been nice to check out the wildlife. I still like the pictures as is though. Although I would like to have been a little closer to those bears and the moose. But now it's just like where's waldo except with animals instead of a waldo. Can you spot them all?
You know what I haven't done yet? Posted any pictures from Alaska on here. Well, I posted a few, but not many. I've been really slow about uploading all my Alaska pictures to Flickr. I think I've gotten most of my film pictures uploaded, but almost none of my digital ones. Of course, I like film better in general, so that's why I've done more of them. Lately I've been really pushing to get all my Alaska pictures up but there are a lot of them and I don't like uploading a ton at a time to Flickr. So that's why it's taking so long. Here are some I took with my Hasselblad from all around Alaska. From Denali all the way down to Resurrection Bay in Seward. It was a whirlwind trip but I had a ton of fun.
So I've done a terrible job of blogging lately. I've been really busy, what with traveling all over the place. First I went to Alaska for vacation. Then when I got back I spent a day in town before going to Oklahoma for work. When I got back from there, I spent two days in town, and then went to the Chicago area. I was supposed to stay there for 7-10 days, but we wrapped up the portion of the project I was working on early, so I got to come home early. I wouldn't have minded staying longer, because it was reasonably easy work and I was getting a pretty good amount of overtime, but it was nice to get home early because I was missing my girlfriend. Oh yeah, and I have a girlfriend now. So that's nice. Anyway, I wanted to give a little update, and let you know I was still alive. I’m going to make a good effort to blog more often; maybe some random thoughts and whatnot? Now please to enjoy these photographs.
